A restricted Himalayan circuit into Tibetan-influenced villages, across the 5,320 m Kang La Pass, with front-row views of Annapurna, Manaslu, and Dhaulagiri.
The Nar Phu Valley is one of Nepal's best-kept secrets; a restricted region that requires special permits and a sense of real adventure. Wedged between the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges, the valley is home to ancient Tibetan-influenced villages, ruined forts, and sweeping high-altitude plateaus that feel closer to Tibet than to Kathmandu.
This trek takes you deep into the restricted valley before crossing the daunting Kang La Pass at 5,320 m to rejoin the Annapurna Circuit. Along the way you will traverse cliffside trails, cross the wild Nar Khola, sleep in centuries-old stone villages, and stand beneath an amphitheatre of 8,000 m peaks. It is a rare combination of cultural immersion and high-altitude challenge, far from the crowds of the classic Annapurna trail.
A challenging, pre-dawn climb over rocky ridges and scree, rewarded with a summit panorama of Annapurna II, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, and Pisang Peak.
Experience the unique culture and traditions of the Nar and Phu communities: stone houses, active monasteries, mani walls, and a way of life largely untouched by modernisation.
Pristine valleys, glaciers, and high-altitude lakes in a region where permits limit visitor numbers. The landscape feels genuinely untouched.
Narrow canyons, Buddhist gompas, chortens, and mani walls line the trail. Tashi Lhakhang Monastery in Phu and the nunnery at Nar Phedi offer rare spiritual encounters.
Manaslu (8,163 m), Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), and Annapurna I (8,091 m) are visible along different sections of the route. A true Himalayan panorama.
The trail cleaves to the wild Nar Khola through dense forests, waterfalls, and cliffside paths before bursting onto the windswept Tibetan plateau of Meta.
Thirteen days through the restricted Nar Phu Valley, from Kathmandu to the roof of the Annapurna range.
